SUMMARY:EMMES 7.0: How Will the Revised Market Design Affect the Energy Storage Market in Europe?
DESCRIPTION:EASE together with LCP Delta organised a webinar on 28 March 2023 to present the latest European Market Monitor on Energy Storage and discuss how the revised market design will affect the energy storage market in Europe. \nIn March 2023\, the European Union will announce four major initiatives that will directly impact the energy storage sector: the revision of the Electricity Market Design directive\, the Staff Working Document on Energy Storage\, the Net-Zero Industry Act\, and the Critical Raw Materials Act. This could be a watershed moment for the energy storage sector. There is political commitment to promote energy storage uptake\, and there is upcoming legislation to codify this commitment. \nLCP-Delta and EASE are publishing the 7th annual European Market Monitor for Energy Storage (EMMES)\, which holds the most extensive database on European energy storage projects. The database of over 2\,600 projects includes detailed data on current installations by customer segment (residential\, commercial & industrial\, and front-of-meter) across 24 European countries\, with future projects and forecasts up to 2030. \nJoin us on 28 March 2023 for our launch webinar where we will discuss: \n\nHow has the overall European storage market developed over the last 12 months?\nWhat are the trends in three major energy storage segments shaping the market and how will this change in 2023?\nHow are the new European Union legislative initiatives\, and in particular the revision of the Electricity Market Design\, going to impact the energy storage sector?\n\nWebinar recording is available here.

SUMMARY:The Electricity Market Design Revision
DESCRIPTION:EASE is glad to host a webinar on 7 December 2022 at 15:00 CEST on electricity market design revision and discuss how it can enable energy storage for a carbon-neutral future. Speakers from Iberdrola\, CellCube\, Fluence\, Enel X and EASE will discuss the topic. \nIn the past year\, Europe has witnessed climate change-related crises\, security of supply issues caused by rapid geopolitical developments\, and unexpected price spikes that disproportionately fall on industries and consumers. A principal reduction of fossil fuel consumption is essential to solve these challenges: a new electricity market design enabling energy storage is critical to achieving this. How do we make sure energy storage can support achieving carbon-neutral security of supply\, help reach renewable targets\, while having sufficient revenue streams to operate in a competitive market? Please find the event agenda here. \nRegister here!

SUMMARY:The Long and Short of It: Long Duration Energy Storage for Europe’s Future
DESCRIPTION:EASE together with Long Duration Energy Storage (LDES) Council will organise a webinar on 15 September 2022 at 15:00 CEST to discuss long duration energy storage for Europe’s future. \nAcross the EU and UK\, we are seeing renewable energy sources like solar and wind being implemented to push us toward a net-zero future. While renewables have fast become the new energy standard\, a critical component of decarbonization efforts is energy storage. Long duration energy storage in particular is emerging with innovative technologies such as liquid air energy storage\, heat and thermochemical storage\, and more. \nLearn from experts from the LDES Council and EASE as they discuss the most recent reports\, storage targets\, and learnings of companies based in Europe who are leading the way for long duration energy storage. Panelists will discuss their viewpoints on Europe’s clean energy future and how storage provides flexibility and stability both with renewable energy sources and without. SUMMARY:How Much Energy Storage Does Europe Need?
DESCRIPTION:EASE is glad to host a webinar on 12 July 2022 at 14:00 CEST to discuss the need for Energy Storage Targets in line with Europe’s decarbonisation goals. \nIn light of the EU’s ambitions to accelerate the energy transition and further increase climate and sector targets\, critical questions still remain: \n\nCan the energy system support high levels of wind and solar generation with existing infrastructure?\nHow will variable production of renewables be balanced without relying on back-up fossil fuel generation?\n\nIn this webinar we discuss the huge role energy storage has to play in the evolving energy system\, and shed light on how much energy storage will be needed\, building upon our estimates in the recently published EASE review paper ‘Energy Storage Targets 2030 and 2050’. Different experts will bring their perspectives on the topic debating how technologies\, market opportunities and political decisions will shape the future of this sector. \nRegister now!

SUMMARY:EMMES 6.0: Can Europe meet 2030 REPowerEU targets without a storage strategy?
DESCRIPTION:EASE together with Delta_EE will organise a webinar on 14 June 2022 to present the European Market Monitor on Energy Storage (EMMES) and to discuss if  Europe can meet 2030 REPowerEU targets without a storage strategy. \n \nThe EU has announced three major initiatives in recent years that will support and accelerate the energy transition: Fit for 55\, NextGenerationEU Covid recovery plan and RePowerEU. These initiatives set ambitious targets for renewable generation\, hydrogen\, the electrification of heating and transport\, and plans to reduce dependence on gas. \nWhile these targets will require a significant increase in the scale of electricity storage\, a clear strategy and targets for the deployment of batteries and other technologies is missing. Can they be achieved without a storage strategy? \nDelta-EE and EASE (European Association for Storage of Energy) are publishing our 6th annual Market Monitor for Energy Storage which holds the most extensive database on European energy storage projects. The database includes detailed data on current installations for all three customer segments (residential\, C&I and front-of-meter) across 24 European countries\, future projects and forecasts to 2030. \nJoin us on the 14 June 2022 at 11:00 CEST for our launch webinar where we will discuss: \n\nHow has the overall European storage market developed over the last 12 months?\nWhat are the trends in three major energy storage segments shaping the market and how will this change in 2022?\nHow is European policy affecting the market today and shaping it into the future?\n\nRegister now!

SUMMARY:The Future of Long Duration Energy Storage Technologies and Their Applications
DESCRIPTION:EASE is glad to invite you to the upcoming webinar on the future of Long Duration Energy Storage\, where the virtual roundtable will discuss energy storage technologies and how their applications can decarbonize power systems. The webinar will take place on Tuesday\, 14 December 2021\, at 09:00-10:30 (CET) and will be co-hosted by EASE and members of the Long Duration Energy Storage (LDES) Council\, with McKinsey & Company\, as knowledge partner of the Council\, providing insights. \n \nLaunched at the COP26 summit\, the LDES Council is a CEO-led organization that strives to provide fact-based guidance to governments and industry\, drawing from the experience of its members\, which include leading energy companies\, technology providers\, investors\, and end-users. EASE members CellCube\, Corre Energy\, Highview Power\, Malta\, and Siemens Energy are founding members of the Council. \nCouncil members will share insights from their inaugural report\, where the implications of LDES technologies for energy flexibility and the clean energy transition\, as well as the background behind the formation of the LDES Council\, will be discussed. Key findings of the report will be shared\, including Europe-specific insights\, followed by a live plenary panel discussion with representatives from Council members CellCube\, Corre Energy\, Energy Dome\, ESS\, and Malta. \nThe panel will also take questions from the audience and media. \nThe report is the result of months of research and collaboration of Council members. From extensive modelling and exploration\, projections show that 1.5-2.5 TW and 85-140 TWh could be deployed globally by 2040\, with USD 1.5-3 tn investment\, storing up to 10% of all electricity consumed. \nRegister now!\nIf you have any questions relating to this webinar\, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
