EASE welcomes the Commission Staff Working Document on Energy Storage, which complements the “Clean Energy for All Europeans” Package issued in end-November 2016 and provides a valuable contribution to the policy debate.

EASE is very pleased that the European Commission has published its Communication on Accelerating Clean Energy Innovation which lays out a framework for action to increase public and private investments in low-carbon technologies and pushes for the development of clean energy business models.

EASE compliments the European Commission on the Electricity New Market Design Package that was just released and welcomes the definition of energy storage included in the revised Electricity Directive, supporting investment certainty.

On 27-29 September 2016, the European Association for Storage of Energy (EASE) organised in Brussels the second Energy Storage Global Conference.

EASE is glad to announce its five recommendations concerning the Ownership of Energy Storage. EASE is calling upon the EU institutions to take these recommendations into account in the upcoming revision of the Renewable Energy Directive, the Energy Efficiency Directive, and especially the New Energy Market Design legislation.

EASE welcomes the adoption of the ITRE Report “Towards a New Energy Market Design”, proposed by MEP Werner Langen (EPP, DE). It was approved today by the European Parliament in its plenary session in Strasbourg with 454 votes in favour and can be seen as a clear sign that energy storage should play a major role in this new framework.
