Statement on the Battery Booster Strategy
European Commission published the Battery Booster Strategy as part of the European Automotive Action Plan. The strategy includes a Battery Booster Facility to support battery manufacturing in the European Union, and measures to strengthen the European battery supply chain.
READ MOREStatement on the European Grids Package
European Commission published the Grids Package, addressing critical bottlenecks in grid connections, permitting, and infrastructure planning. These issues have hampered energy storage deployment and slowed the EU's decarbonisation and affordability ambitions.
READ MOREEurope set to hit 100 GW of energy storage, with more than 115% growth expected by 2030
The EU, UK, Norway, and Switzerland together are expected to reach 100 GW of installed energy storage later this month, according to new analysis launched at the Enlit Europe conference by LCP Delta and Energy Storage Europe. This milestone represents enough capacity to meet the peak electricity demand of Germany and the Netherlands. With storage capacity forecast to grow by a further 115% by 2030, this will play a crucial role in Europe’s energy transition, creating more space for renewables on the grid.
READ MOREEnergy Leaders Highlight the Critical Role of Storage in the Energy Transition
The Energy Storage Global Conference 2025 organised by the Energy Storage Europe Association from 14–16 October, brought together industry stakeholders to discuss the latest developments in energy storage policies and markets, with an additional focus on the Benelux region.
READ MOREEASE Becomes the Energy Storage Europe Association, Marking 15 Years of Sector Leadership
The European Association for Storage of Energy (EASE) today announced a rebranding to better reflect the rapid evolution of the energy storage role in the energy storage system. EASE will now be known as the Energy Storage Europe association, with a new identity designed to give the sector a stronger visibility. This transformation marks a significant milestone as the association approaches its 15th anniversary and reflects the central role that energy storage now plays in Europe’s energy future.
READ MOREStatement on the European Commission’s guidance on renewables, grids infrastructure and network tariffs
On 2 July 2025, the European Commission published guidance on renewables, grid infrastructure and network tariffs. The communication aims to accelerate the rollout of grids, storage infrastructure and design future-proof electricity network charges. Energy storage can bring benefits that will lower system costs and consumer bills, as network charges are expected to rise across the EU.
READ MOREStatement on Clean Industrial Deal and Affordable Energy Action Plan
On 26 February, the European Commission introduced two major initiatives: the Clean Industrial Deal will set the direction for faster renewable energy deployment, industrial decarbonisation, and clean technology manufacturing; the Affordable Energy Action Plan outline key measures that will shape the deployment and economic viability of energy storage in the coming years.
