UPRAISE turns end-of-life batteries into a secure European source of critical raw materials, through reuse, recycling and a full chain of new processes.
UPRAISE is a 48-month Horizon Europe project – coordinated by a widely known French Research & Technology Organisation (CEA) – that develops integrated recycling and reuse solutions for end-of-life Li-ion batteries, addressing both NMC and LFP chemistries. The project covers the full circular value chain: from battery diagnostics, dismantling, reuse and safe deactivation to advanced recycling, recovery of critical raw materials, production of battery-grade materials and their validation in new cells. Through close industry-research collaboration, UPRAISE will demonstrate innovative processes at TRL 6-7, while supporting Safe and Sustainable by Design (SSbD), the Digital Battery Passport, circularity and the strengthening of the European battery and critical raw materials value chain.
